Running

Running is an excellent form of exercise. It is free, you can do it anywhere, and it burns more calories than most other exercises! According to the NHS, regular running can reduce your risk of long-term illnesses, such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes and stroke. It can also boost your mood, reduce stress, improve sleep and keep your weight under control. There is little else you need other than a good pair of running trainers. We are very fortunate to live in an area boasting beautiful scenery and there are plenty of excellent routes along and around the Basingstoke canal. You may discover somewhere new you didn’t even realise was there.

If you are new to running, it is advisable to ease yourself into running slowly and increase your pace and distance gradually over several outings. This will reduce the risk of injury and avoid doing too much too soon.

If you’d prefer to run with company, why not consider reaching out to a local running club? Click here to find out more.
