Basingstoke Canal Society 2021 AGM

A sunny evening in early September meant that Lakeside International at Frimley Green was a delightful setting for our latest AGM.  Pleased to be able to actually meet safely again, over 40 members were able to get together, with a welcome to some attending for the first time.

Brilliantly hosted by our President’s, Tim and Liz Dodwell, not only could we proceed with the formalities of an AGM but were also then entertained by Dick King, Janet Buckley and Ian Moore – but especially by Fiona Shipp from the Basingstoke Canal Authority who’s passion for all boats large and small – and especially canoes using the canal – was most enjoyable and enlightening.

One of our longest members, Roger Cansdale explained the new Dieter Jebens Photography award that will be awarded for the first time at the 2022 AGM for the best member photograph of the Canal, and he was also awarded the Robin Higgs Trophy.

We look forward to a likely return there in 2022.
