In recent months the Basingstoke Canal Authority (BCA) have welcomed Tarun Ingvorsen as the new Basingstoke Canal Manager – Operations.
Tarun has been in his new role looking after the beautiful Basingstoke Canal for just over two months and is enjoying his new challenge.
Tarun comes to the BCA from South West London, working on a DEFRA funded project on flood resilience, climate change preparedness, and river restoration and conservation.
With a background in catchment and river restoration, ecology and conservation, and species reintroductions, Tarun has been working across England and in the mountains of the American North East.
Having frequented the canal as a kid, fishing and such with mates he is particularly looking forward to working on the Basingstoke Canal.
Tarun described the Basingstoke Canal as: “a very special and unique feature of the Hampshire and Surrey landscapes, not least for its nature and water make up and I eagerly await working on and conserving it with you all at the Canal Authority”.
Ian Moore, Chair of the BCS, welcomed Tarun to the “ Basingstoke Canal family” on behalf of the Society and says he looks forward to the new ideas that Tarun will bring to the table. “We’ve already had some productive sessions, and look forward to many more in the future.”
