Celebrating 60 years of the Basingstoke Canal Society with a cruise and talk by Roger Cansdale on WW2 and the Military by the Basingstoke Canal.
Roger has been involved with the Basingstoke Canal Society since the 1970s. In this time he has been Chairman of the Boat Company, a member of the Society Committee and editor of the Basingstoke Canal News. Roger has produced many of the books about the Basingstoke canal that are on sale on the boat and in the online shop, which he also managed for several years. He is also a keen photographer.
Roger has given talks to many groups and on this trip he will be sharing some of his vast research into local history and knowledge of the area along the canal, the military influence and how it was used in WW2. His books, covering many topics will be on sale from the galley.
