Did you know that when the Basingstoke Canal opened in 1794 there were originally 68 bridges. Peter Whitlock, one of the BCS Archivist volunteers has been busy writing a book that tells the story of all 75 bridges in existence today, ranging from the many original red brick accommodations bridges to the most recent modern bridges.
The book is a fascinating read and provides information and stores that Peter has uncovered about the bridges along the canal, including all the bridges in the last 5 miles.
