John Pinkerton II Conditions of Charter

 
  1. The John Pinkerton II trip boat is operated by John Pinkerton Canal Cruises Ltd, and the Galley is operated by Surrey & Hampshire Canal Cruises Ltd. Both are wholly owned subsidiaries of The Basingstoke Canal Society, and jointly defined as The Company.

  2. The John Pinkerton II is licensed to carry a maximum of 50 passengers. If the charterer requires attendance by persons additional to their own party, for example, band members or serving staff, these must be included in the total number of passengers.

  3. Provisional bookings will be accepted by telephone or email, but must be confirmed within 14 days, after which time it will be offered to others.

  4. A confirmed booking is a booking made upon the official Charter Booking Form, and accompanied by a non-returnable deposit.

  5. Deposit required is: a) Private groups: 50% of the fee, b) Commercial tour or coach companies: £50.

  6. A booking is not confirmed until the required deposit is paid, when the hirer becomes responsible for the whole of the hire charge. The balance is payable at least 14 days before the date of commencement of the cruise.

  7. The company reserves the right to refuse bookings without assigning a reason for doing so.

  8. Cancellation must be confirmed in writing not less than fourteen days before the commencement of the cruise. No further payment will be required but the deposit will be forfeited unless the date can be resold. At the discretion of the Booking Team, the deposit may be applied to a re-booked date in the same year.

  9. Every effort will be made to comply with the Hirer’s wishes on direction of cruise; however this is not a condition of contract as canal circumstances may dictate a necessary alteration.

  10. If unable to fulfil its commitment to undertake a cruise, the Company will refund all hire charges paid, but will not be liable for other losses incurred by the Hirer.

  11. For your own safety and the safety of others, passengers must follow instructions given by the crew when embarking / disembarking or whilst on board.

  12. The Company will not be liable for any loss or injury suffered by passengers whilst upon, embarking / disembarking the boat.

  13. The company has no objection to parties bringing their own food, but reserves sole and exclusive rights for the sale and supply of all drinks taken on board. Corkage fees will apply.

  14. Smoking and vaping are not permitted whilst on board the boat.

  15. No alcohol may be consumed by passengers under the age of 18. Passengers who appear to be under the age of 25 may be asked to provide proof of age before being served with alcohol.

  16. The company reserves the right to close the galley at any time it deems advisable.

  17. The Hirer must be 18 years old, or older, and is responsible for the behaviour of his / her party and any damage caused by them, and for ensuring that all members of his / her party are aware of these ‘Conditions Of Hire’.

  18. Dogs are not allowed on-board, except for registered guide or medical dogs, unless with the agreement of fellow passengers and the Booking Team.

  19. Gift vouchers are not valid to book Charter Trips.
