It must mean something when we had such a gorgeous day for our naming ceremony. Sally Taylor of BBC South Today had come directly to us from a previous engagement, and then had to move onto the Coronation celebration in Winchester cathedral in the afternoon, so unfortunately was unable to go on the inaugural cruise. We hope she will join us on a less formal occasion sometime soon. It was good to see her natural enthusiasm for the Canal and narrow-boating, and she did a grand job of the naming; we are very grateful to her for giving up her own time to be with us.
It is good to see such support for the Canal; let’s hope it leads to better understanding of the needs of boaters and other users. My personal thanks to all those who turned out to help steward this memorable event, as well as those who spectated.
