Join the Boat at Odiham for a Cruise to Stacey’s Bridge, and leave the boat for your Visit to The Old Thatch Cottage.
Rejoin the Boat after you have been round the garden.
Departing at 1pm, these National Garden Scheme Open Days cruises are a popular way to arrive at the garden.
Numbers will be strictly limited to 5 individual family groups of 3 to 6 people only, seated at a table.
Tables for 2 people now available.
Its just a short walk from Stacey’s Bridge to the garden, and you will have about 2 hours to explore.
The licensed bar will be open on both legs of the cruise.
The return journey will depart approx 4.30pm.
Note that each family group will occupy one ‘space’ (table) with the selected number of people.
Cruise in the peaceful surroundings of the Basingstoke Canal
The canal is an SSSI, and not only serves as a local recreational amenity but is also a notable wildlife habitat.
The alkaline water from the chalk springs at Greywell and the acid water content eastward where the canal passes through heathland, has given rise to one of the largest varieties of aquatic plants and invertebrates in the United Kingdom.
As many as 25 of Britain’s 39 species of dragonflies and damselflies inhabit the canal.
You may get lucky and see a Kingfisher that is considered to be a lucky bird. You can also see herons swans, ducks, geese, moorhens (often with young) and various local floras.
Cruise times may be extended in low water conditions.
